About Jackson Feild Homes
Jackson Feild Homes sits a short distance from the Nottoway River in Jarratt, Virginia. Their addiction and mental health services are designed for kids struggling to function in their everyday environment due to SUD, mental illness, or trauma. Naturally, this residential program takes a taruma informed approach to care.
They work with clients between the ages of 11 and 21 by referral, court order or placement by social services. Something I appreciate about this facility is that they have faith based services and specialized support for military families.
Clubs for Kids
This location offers several supportive clubs for adolescents, in addition to treatment, which I think is brilliant. These range from skill development (like art and mindfulness) to extracurricular and hobbies (like book and nature clubs). I can see how these activities can support the client's treatment plan by giving them a feeling of community and belonging with their peers and introducing them to new constructive uses of their time.
Always Learning
Residents in this program stay on track with education goals through the Gwaltney School. Each client’s education plan is based on an assessment, much like addiction treatment, to determine where they are in relation to their peers.
