About Hyland Behavioral Health Center

Hyland Behavioral Health Center in St. Louis, Missouri, specializes in offering education, treatment and preventative services for mental and behavioral health conditions, including substance abuse. Support is available to clients of all ages. They accept Medicaid and also offer discounts to uninsured individuals as well as financial assistance to those eligible.

The center provides hospital care services as well as more flexible outpatient treatment, including counseling and medication therapy services as needed. Individual, group and family counseling sessions are available. Sessions teach relapse prevention techniques. They also offer 12 Step, Gamblers Anonymous and other addiction related support groups.

Clients can also benefit from 24-hour evaluation services, psychological and psychoeducational testing and family education sessions, including specialized education sessions. In certain cases, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) may also be used. Targeted teen group therapy is also available to provide age appropriate support for young people struggling with addiction or mental health issues. For long term and sustainable results, aftercare services are also available.

The center also offers a unique virtual care experience in the form of its Substance Use Recovery Program (SURP). Their physicians administer medication assisted treatment (MAT) as part of this, using FDA approved medicines like buprenorphine. The team’s addiction-specialized social workers and psychiatrists provide additional support for a holistic treatment service. The fact that this center can offer MAT virtually is truly unique, as this is rarely an option at most drug rehab facilities.

The initial intake session for this program tends to last up to an hour and weekly sessions last around 15 minutes each. Once a care plan is in place, visits can be scheduled as needed by the client. This program is amazingly accessible and could be an ideal option for anyone with limited mobility or those who might find it tricky to make in-person appointments for any reason. It’s available to all Mercy clients in Eastern Missouri on referral.
