About Hope House Outpatient Clinic
Hope House in Troy, New York, offers outpatient substance use disorder treatment services for adolescents and adults. Their staff includes master level clinicians, licensed mental health counselors and social workers. Some of the treatment services you’ll receive are specialized group sessions, weekly individual sessions, and daily therapy groups.
Family Services to Support Adolescents
One of the things I like about this facility is the emphasis they put on including the family in the treatment process. Parents and guardians will collaborate with the staff on the adolescent’s evaluation and treatment. The facility can also assess the mental health and substance use status of guardians and other family members when appropriate.
I also noticed they provide an additional assessment of the functioning of the family. They’ll evaluate the family on topics such as communication and role performance. Through the information gathered, the family can receive guidance on how they can be better at supporting their teen’s recovery.
Helpful Topics For Group Therapy
A few of the topics that will be discussed in group sessions include health, relapse prevention strategies, alcohol/drug education and daily living skills. Some examples of relapse prevention strategies that might be covered are developing healthy relationships and improving coping skills.
Group therapy can benefit you by giving you an outlet to express your thoughts about your recovery in a room of supportive peers. Your peers will also share their experiences, which may give you insights on how to do better in your recovery.
A nice thing about this clinic’s location is that it’s not far from the Hudson River. After your treatment sessions, you can spend time enjoying the sight of the river at Hudson Shores Park.
