About House of Hope-Madison
The House of Hope is a halfway house offering recovery support for men 18 and older experiencing substance addiction in Anderson, Indiana. The 28-bed residential center helps guests remain sober while working on the skills needed to become independent for a healthier future.
Serving the Underserved
I found that the typical resident at House of Hope is experiencing homelessness, unemployed and without financial resources. Some of the men have no family support and may be involved in legal situations resulting from substance use. They may have some residents who come directly from incarceration.
Residents attend counseling but also focus on learning skills that transcend to life after treatment. They also receive education to support them and help them understand the role of addiction in relationships and thinking patterns.
Case management is available to connect us to outside resources for ongoing recovery support. They can help with continued counseling, housing, transportation, and community involvement.
I noted they include peer groups in the program, which helps reduce isolation during treatment. Guests use the 12 steps of recovery to have a spiritual foundation for sobriety and provide interaction with others who understand the recovery journey.
