About High Watch Recovery Center
High Watch Recovery Center is located in Kent, Connecticut. The organization is accredited by The Joint Commission and LegitScript certified. They’re also members of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers.
What stood out to me is that they were the world’s first 12 Step treatment center. They’re on 200 wooded acres. The center resembles a country bed and breakfast. Insurance is accepted.
The beds are made of oak and they provide quilts. The flooring is reclaimed hardwood floors with persian rugs laid over them. The bathrooms are bright and spacious.
I like that you start seeing your assigned therapist from the start, even if you begin your treatment journey in detox. The physicians and nursing staff are onsite, which I like. Their licensed clinicians will diagnose and treat any co-occurring mental health issues.
The very first thing you will do is receive a biopsychosocial evaluation. This will help them assemble your customized treatment plan. Your plan will mostly incluse daily group sessions and weekly individual therapy. There are some specialty tracks, including equine therapy in which you can learn to care for horses as part of a healthy coping mechanism.
They teach an intense format of the 12 Step program. You are going to have a 12 Step coach assigned to you. They will work with you in an individual setting. You’ll learn how they use the 12 Step program to help maintain remission.
I like that they have specialized groups. Relationships in recovery is their group that is dedicated to make and maintain relationships that are healthy. They have a 50+ group and this group discusses the unique challenges they face. The empowering women in recovery group is for women only. This group will help women recognize how strong and resilient they are.
