The Smith Psychiatric Center offers mental health crisis stabilization and detox. The Behavioral Assessment Center is located in the Emergency room and offers assessments 24 hours a day seven days a week. Following a comprehensive mental health and chemical dependency assessment, the emergency medicine team will determine the appropriate level of treatment and make a referral to the outpatient program at Emerywood, or the inpatient program. Most programs include individual and group counseling, family therapy, skills training, relapse prevention education, recovery meetings, and medication management.

Accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the State of North Carolina. High Point Behavioral Health accepts most private insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and self pay. Financial assistance may also be available.
