About East Center-Henrico Mental Health Emergency Services

Henrico Area Mental Health’s East Center is in Richmond, Virginia. They offer so much more than just access to resources to local residents. Whether you’re facing mental health challenges or substance use or are looking for support for developmental disability, they’ve made a space where healing is possible, and lives are completely rebuilt.

Tailored Support for Women and Families

The substance use disorder program is for people over 18. I really like how the East Center realizes that the majority of their clients are dually diagnosed with significant mental health conditions and substance use disorder, so they make it a point to provide specific support for those people.

But, I really like that they offer custom care for families and women impacted by addiction. They have programs for pregnant and postpartum women, as well as moms who have older children. Some of the assistance includes coordinated medical care for both mom and her children, finding childcare, and applying for housing, entitlements, and treatment resources.

Plus, the East Center also has interventions to address domestic violence, abuse, parenting and relapse prevention. Other services offered include peer support, detox, residential treatment, and onsite medical services.
