About Healing Transitions
In Raleigh, North Carolina, you'll find the men's campus of Healing Transitions. It’s a long term recovery program and emergency shelter. They offer non medical detox and outreach. I like that they focus on serving homeless and uninsured populations.
The drop in shelter is open every day of the year. This service is available even if you're participating in other programs. The non medical detox center is an alternative to emergency rooms, jail or the streets. Staff will assess you to see if you need a higher level of medical supervision.
I find it interesting that they offer different tracks for recovery. There’s a track for those who are unsure if they want to commit to the program. There are also options for those who are committed and ready. You'll participate in 12 step meetings, peer accountability groups and chores. When you're ready, you'll begin the track that helps you find a job and transition back to society. After you graduate you will get an alumni status. From that point on, you can teach classes and support current participants.
