About Healing Transitions

Healing Transitions, in Raleigh, North Carolina, provides free life changing services to adults in Wake County. They especially focus on the homeless, underserved and uninsured. They have both men's and women's campuses, are always open and offer on demand recovery services. They have no financial barriers because treatment is free. They provide services as many times as it takes and always give another chance using their peer to peer model.

They offer gendered shelter and nonmedical detox 24/7. This is for folks who need a safe place to withdraw from drugs or alcohol and begin recovery. Staff will perform an assessment to make sure that you don’t need a higher level of care like medical detox or ER services. After detox, you'll be linked to further services to help you progress.

Their long term recovery program is available for both men and women. It has four different tracks to help you start at the stage that you need based on where you are right now. The motivation and engagement track allows you to attend 12 Step meetings and Recovery Dynamics classes in exchange for a guaranteed bed and place to keep your belongings. At this level, you can decide whether you want to commit to the recovery program.

Recovery 1 track is for people who have decided they do want to engage in the recovery program. You’ll be responsible for operating the campus and be engaged in peer accountability. You'll also be working through the recovery dynamics sessions and complete life skill classes and job readiness classes that are taught by Wake Technical Community College.

Level 2 track focuses on getting a job and finding recovery housing. During this stage, you'll make a plan for how to transition back into the community.

The final track is called alumni status. As an alumni, you'll return to campus to help others while also getting support yourself. You may teach classes, mentor and talk to current participants and also get resources and support you need.
