Harsha Behavioral Center has been in operation as an acute care hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana since 2008. They provide addiction treatment services for adults in the 20 bed adult wing of their hospital. The staff can also assist individuals who have a co-occurring disorder.

Treatment Through an Evidence Based Approach

The primary therapeutic approach that Harsha Behavioral Center uses to help clients heal from addiction is dialectical behavioral therapy. In group sessions, clients focus on improving mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.

You’ll be building skills that can help prevent relapse while also receiving encouragement and support from your peers. I like that this facility has other services available that may also help you overcome addiction, such as expressive therapy, pet therapy, and music class.

Maintaining Recovery Outside of the Hospital

Continuing your recovery outside of the hospital will involve keeping up the skills you’ve learned, and also finding new ways to enjoy life without using substances. The town is a little over an hour away from Indianapolis. Some great attractions I think would be worth checking out are the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Fort Harrison State Park.
