Program activities include 12 step work, recovery support groups, attendance at NA and AA meetings, skills training, and education to develop: communication skills, recovery support, strengthening their relationships with their families, and creating a relapse prevention strategy.

Harbor House also offers medication assisted treatment (MAT), which involves the use of certain medications, like buprenorphine, in conjunction with counseling — to treat alcohol and opioid use disorders. It is considered the gold standard of opioid use disorder treatment by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and is endorsed by SAMHSA.
