About H.O.W Foundation
The Honest Open Minded Willing (H.O.W.) Foundation is a no-cost residential recovery program for men in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The organization does not provide licensed or certified substance abuse counseling. Instead, the program focuses on the value of a strong work ethic and is based on the 12-step principles.
Their six-month residential recovery program is for men who are suffering from alcohol or drug addiction. An average of around 280 men reside at the facility per year. I think it’s interesting that everyone on the team has been through this program at least once. It is nice to know that the staff has once stood where you are, providing hope.
Their structured and sober environment will teach you the importance of hard work and discipline. You will also learn to take accountability for your own actions and attitudes. You will learn to cope without the need to abuse substances and stop blaming others for your failures.
You will have the opportunity to work hard and earn your life back. The program itself will be physically demanding. You will need to work for your stay by partaking in the services they offer the community. Services are provided at fair market value. Some of the services they offer are lawn care, tree removal, trash hauling, snow removal, stump grinding, moving furniture and chopping firewood.
I do like that they work with law enforcement. The program offers men a positive alternative to jail.
