About Guildhaus

Located in Blue Island, Illinois, Guildhaus Halfway House is a sober living home for men. Guildhaus is a not for profit serving 22 men in a long-term residential recovery treatment program. Residents are asked to stay at the house for 90 days. After completion of treatment they are invited to move to the Recovery Home, located nearby. It’s important to note that Guildhaus is not a detox center, so they can’t help you with any medical services.

The focus of treatment is to help you change your thinking and behaviors in a highly structured setting. You’ll be required to attend five Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week and four group therapy sessions. You’ll be invited to participate in other meetings like anger management, sex education, crisis intervention and emotional sobriety.

When attending 12 Step meetings, three should be in the house, and the other two should be out within the local community. You’ll also be encouraged to lead these meetings and participate in sober fellowship. Staff at Guildhaus will also help you navigate legal issues, unemployment, disability benefits and medical management.

One family member of a former resident said this is a wonderful program and they continue to support you for years after treatment. Another former resident said Guildhaus took him in when he was homeless and had no money. They gave him counseling, helped him get a job, and helped him get back on his feet.
