About Guadalupe Centers Older Adult Program
The Older Adults Program of Guadalupe Centers operates in a senior’s center as designated by the Mid-America Regional Council. Eligible clients are 60 plus years old, or 18 to 59 years old with a state issued disability award letter. They can help with a wide range of clients’ needs including behavioral healthcare like accessing addiction therapy.
Seniors’ Bilingual Health Services and Activities
The center does not charge seniors for services. They do accept donations for congregate and home delivered meals. Seniors living in specified areas can get free transportation to and from the center. We think it's notable that the center is wheelchair accessible and employs bilingual staff.
Services are supplied to groups at the center or at home for those who are homebound. The center offers nutrition services, health education and screenings, social development opportunities, and other services that promote health and independence.
Health and Leisure Activities
Health opportunities include weekly exercise classes such as Zumba and Tai Chi. There’s a nurse accessible on the fourth Tuesday of every month, and they have health screenings. Fun activities include Bingo, monthly craft projects, weekly game sessions, outings such as movies at the theater or attending sports games, and special occasion celebrations and parties.
Referral for Substance Use Disorder
If your senior has a substance use problem, they can be referred to the Guadalupe Treatment Center on Van Brunt. We worry about our seniors and their mental health, but the center is dedicated to helping our seniors and others who have addictions problems.
If you suspect your senior has a substance use issue, the center can evaluate them for drug or alcohol disorders. The center is certified by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, Division of Behavioral Health.
Your senior will receive counseling and education about substance use disorders. Counseling is provided in the client’s primary language and is culturally sensitive. Clients are referred to community support services and can also be referred for more intensive services such as detox or residential.
Amenities
Private drug rehab provides a comfortable, secure environment that allows you to focus on doing the work to get your life back on track. Benefits include a higher staff-to-client ratio, increased one-on-one time with therapists and healthcare providers, private rooms for clients, and customized forms of therapy.
Residential drug rehab provides the comforts of home with the therapeutic support needed to successfully recover. Benefits of an inpatient program include increased safety, a higher success rate, and the time and distance given to focus on recovery. Residential drug rehabs are often the preferred method of treatment, as they can be tailored to meet specific needs, offer focused therapeutic care, and provide the necessary tools to sustain recovery.
Recreational therapy uniquely combines therapeutic interventions with an activity, like horse-riding, hiking, wilderness therapy, basketball, tennis, or a full workout. Benefits of recreational therapy include providing a healthy way to work through the emotions of recovery, learning to build and maintain relationships, improving communication skills, and building self-esteem.
Yoga and meditation are great activities to support your recovery process during alcohol or drug rehab. These therapies have been around for centuries, and they are an effective way to improve well-being. Combining addiction treatment, yoga, and meditation can reduce cravings, improve sleep, relieve anxiety and depression, provide stress relief, promote relaxation, support emotional healing, and improve energy levels.
In order to maintain a sense of autonomy, many private rehab facilities offer clients the ability to choose their own private rooms. The privacy and personal space ensure that the recovery process is as comfortable as possible.
Hiking is a great way to relieve stress, get perspective, navigate challenges, connect with nature, and improve your health - all essential components of sustaining long-term recovery. Studies also show that the body releases endorphins during physical activities like hiking. These endorphins improve mood and act as a natural pain reliever.
Addiction treatment programs provide an opportunity to get your life back on track with access to school classes or college courses. Whether you want to finish your GED or go back to school to learn a new trade, facilities often enlist tutors and teachers who are certified or licensed by the state to oversee self-study or distance-learning education.
