About GMS Counseling Ogden
The GMS Counseling Services is a clinic located in a suburban corner of Ogden, Utah. They offer treatment to individuals who are struggling with substance abuse disorders and dual-diagnosis disorders. You’ll benefit from receiving outpatient treatment here because you will have access to voluntary case management services that can assist with employment search, emergency food, and shelter that have as little as no cost.
To get a better perspective on the level of care you need they will complete an assessment to identify goals you want to achieve in treatment, areas of your life you want to improve in, and group therapies you can benefit from. Their level of care available is split into three, depending on which ones can work best for you.
Their early intervention education sessions will be between 12-16 sessions and attending group therapy once a week. Their traditional outpatient services can range between one to eight hours a week for 24 weeks. Intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment will range between four to six weeks with a total of nine hours of treatment sessions weekly. The treatment sessions can consist of individual counseling, group therapy, or both.
What stands out to me the most is the variety of treatment groups that combine healing for chemical dependency and other areas you can be struggling with. They offer substance abuse groups for education, relapse prevention, and trauma care. Evidence-based strategies are used to help you achieve long-term sobriety, reduce the chances of retraumatization, and assist you with developing coping skills for you to use.
It’s not uncommon to have experienced challenges during which shoplifting or other forms of theft could have been part of old impulsive behaviors you engaged with during active addiction. They offer a Thinking Errors program to assist with improving decision-making skills to reduce the risk of engaging in illegal behaviors by encouraging setting goals and providing education on cognitive restructuring. There are two levels of this program, with the first consisting of six one-hour sessions and level two having a total of 12 one-hour sessions.
