About Gibault Childrens Services
Gibault Children's Services are specialists in treating behavioral health and addiction needs in adolescents. Though these programs are designed with the needs of growing kids and teens in mind, they extend support to the whole family. One campus is located in Terre Haute, Indiana. It’s not far from Honey Creek.
This location works with a variety of sources to accept new clients, including the Department of Education and the state Department of Child Services. They’ve around since 1921 and sits on 360 acres.
Helping Kids Understand Trauma
The trauma informed care model addresses the underlying traumas connected to harmful behaviors like substance abuse. It also acknowledges that past traumas can influence other areas of behavior and may impact how receptive a child may be to treatment. This facility uses the trauma informed model to give your child a high degree of control over treatment.
What strikes me most about this approach is how empowering it can be. There's always the risk that treatment will be seen as a passive experience. By giving your child greater say, it opens avenues for more involvement.
A Campus Where Kids Can Grow
This location offers both residential and outpatient services. Many services take place in the Terre Haute campus, a 360 acre property designed to meet the growing needs of families in the community. The large campus plays host to a variety of community events, too.
Personalized Education Program
Another unique factor about this location is its educational support. Following an assessment, your child will receive education services tailored to meet their needs alongside day treatment. They follow the PLATO curriculum.
What I find appealing about this is their student to teacher ratios. It means each child gets more attention and personalized services from staff. It's easier for teachers to track progress and adapt learning plans when they're working with smaller groups like this.
