About Genesis Hospital
Genesis Behavioral Health is the mental health extension of the Genesis Healthcare System (GHS) facility located in Zanesville, Ohio. The behavioral health division provides not only outpatient drug and alcohol recovery care but also offers psychiatric care for both adults and children. It is one of two related behavioral health facilities within the GHS network.
GHS accepts most major insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid. There are also discounts that may be available for people who aren’t insured.
Intensive Outpatient Group Program
In particular, GHS’ Behavioral Health unit provides outpatient care for both drugs and alcohol. This includes an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that’s given in a group setting. Here, people can learn about the stressors that contributed to their substance use disorder (SUD), how to manage triggers like their emotions or interactions with other people, and recovery tools for themselves and loved ones. This service isn’t just limited to adults as there is an adolescent substance abuse treatment program offered as well.
Dual Diagnosis and MAT Support
For people facing serious addiction, I appreciate that this facility offers medication assisted treatment (MAT), along with dual diagnosis care to manage the underlying issues that led to substance abuse initially. This is combined with therapeutic sessions and education to help strengthen recovery goals and prevent future relapse.
Relapse Prevention and Aftercare
I know that achieving sobriety is a major step toward recovery, and so does Genesis Behavioral Health. This is why they emphasize the importance of relapse prevention. This is a program that’s part of the overall outpatient service offering that prioritizes retraining your brain to manage triggers in the future. Likewise, continuing care includes therapeutic sessions offered in both group or individual formats to help maintain recovery.
