Fresno County Children’s System of Care

You’ll find the Fresno County Children's System of Care in Fresno, California. They’re conveniently located near the Fresno Yosemite International Airport. They’re also a short drive from Basin V Park, home to a sweet pond and walking trail, and Reedy Park, affectionately known as “Garden of The Sun.”

This center focuses on helping children up to the age of 17 and their families get a handle on addiction. If they can’t provide services internally, they’ll connect you with a suitable contracted agency.

Treatment Designed for Youths

Youths who are experimenting with substances or experiencing addiction require specialized treatment approaches. Not only are their circumstances vastly different from an adult’s, but they also have brains in active development.

I like that this program is designed to prevent substance use disorder from occurring by educating kids and their families on the nature of addiction and the dangers of “casual” underage drinking.

One thing great about this program is that it outlines the importance of safe sharing spaces in keeping children healthy and sober. I noticed they have a bunch of resources for caregivers which explain in clear steps how they can create safe spaces for their kids to be vulnerable and honest.

They also have resources which describe how to create an alcohol policy for your family that starts an open dialogue between guardians and youths, and a list of fun activities youths could engage in rather than experimenting with alcohol or drugs.
