About Fresh Start Housing
Fresh Start Housing gives you exactly what it says in the name: a clean, sober shared living space. It’s open to many groups, including those in treatment or recovery from substance use disorder or mental health concerns. They’re based out of Olympia, Washington but have houses throughout the state.
Residents establish their short and long term goals during their stay. They’re held accountable through weekly house meetings as well as staff check ins. The program provides support to help you reach said goals.
Since this isn’t a medical program, insurance doesn’t cover costs. You’ll pay monthly rent instead.
Accommodating and Affordable Sober Housing
This group has five sober living homes in five Washington counties. These include men only locations and shared homes for men and women, giving everyone the chance to find their stability in a safe home.
What I think is great, though, is that rent is different for everybody. After the first three months (where you’ll pay $500 a month), the amount you pay will adjust based on your income. This ensures you’re paying your fair share without breaking the bank to do so.
Building You Up as a Transitional Step in Recovery
Homes like these aren’t meant to be permanent solutions, though many will allow you to stay as long as you like. Their ultimate goal is to help you transition into the next stage of your recovery, and to that end, this program provides life skills training tailored toward your goals and independent living.
Embracing Olympia While You Recover
Staying occupied in recovery is important. The great thing about sober living homes like these is that you aren’t restricted to staying on the premises all day, so why not venture out and enjoy yourself?
I like that there’s always something to do in Olympia, from live events to festivals, classes and sports events. These opportunities offer more than entertainment: they’re chances to do what you love while living in sobriety.
