About HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is a hospital-based behavioral health and mental health treatment program in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, offering inpatient psychiatric care, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services.

Located on Mar Walt Drive within a 331-bed acute care hospital, the program, I've found, serves adults in inpatient care and patients ages 12 and older in outpatient services in a safe, private environment.

Acute Care for Youth and Adults 12 and Older

Treatment often begins with a comprehensive evaluation through the on-site Psychiatric Treatment Center, a 48-bed inpatient unit divided into two acute care units for adults age 18 and older.

From there, patients can step down into a partial hospitalization program (PHP) or intensive outpatient program (IOP), including the S.A.I.L. adolescent program, which I've learned is for ages 12 to 17.

Clients can expect individualized treatment planning, individual and group therapy and approaches such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, accelerated resolution therapy and trauma informed care.

ECT is also available when clinically recommended, and outpatient services include in-person and virtual therapy options.
