About First at Blue Ridge

First at Blue Ridge is a licensed therapeutic community for people who are ready to quit addiction once and for all. This peer-led, 12 Step community offers short and long-term residential programs for adults. They are funded mainly through contracts with local employers who participate as vocational training partners. This facility is located in Ridgecrest, North Carolina.

It provides housing, self-help meetings, group counseling and job placement for anyone struggling with addiction as well as unemployment, homelessness or criminal involvement. The aim of this program is to take people who aren’t fully contributing to society and redirect their lives so that they can be productive members of the community.

They have a residence with 85 beds for men and a women’s facility with 65 beds. On the campus are other facilities, including transitional housing. You'll be encouraged to participate in self-help programs such as AA, NA, SMART recovery or others for 12 months.

If you enroll in their long-term program, you'll participate in work assignments for employers that are vocational training partners. This’ll give you employable skills and work experience and offset the cost of your treatment. You’ll also join evening clinical groups on topics like anger management and relapse prevention.

Folks who are unable to commit to the long-term treatment program can participate in a short-term intensive version that ranges from 14 to 90 days. However, there’s a fee for this program since you won't be participating in the vocational training aspect of the program.

First also offers a 24-month program for veterans. You'll live and get addiction treatment and other services on campus but you'll continue to be employed outside.
