About Fifth Street Counseling Center
Fifth Street Counseling Center Plantation in Plantation, Florida, is one of the organization’s three separate locations in South Florida. They specialize in mental health counseling, anger management support and addiction treatment services. Care is available to teens, adults and families. Florida Medicaid and many other commercial insurance plans are accepted. Sliding scale fees are available, and there are a limited number of reduced fee services and scholarships.
As well as mental health counseling services, this center also offers drug testing. Clients may need to access this kind of service for all kinds of reasons, including for sports team testing, school admissions, new hire screenings and court ordered drug screens. Testing can be done by a few methods, including urine, sweat patch and hair follicle tests.
They also offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) to help individuals make a healthy transition back to a happier, healthier life within their community. Through this program, individuals can learn to better manage the daily challenges and stresses that come with addiction recovery. The first phase of the program is six weeks long. In this time, clients will receive a personalized treatment plan and learn skills to help them tackle challenges. They work on really getting to the root of the behavioral patterns that led to their addiction.
Clients can expect to meet three evenings a week for small group therapy meetings and casual, individual counseling sessions. In these sessions, they’ll learn recovery skills and meet court-related goals if applicable. Therapy focuses on nurturing emotional wellbeing, planning for sobriety, and learning relapse prevention and anger management skills. The program usually begins with an intake interview, followed by the development of a personalized treatment plan, and then the scheduling of group and individual sessions.
The center also offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) using Vivitrol®. This is free for qualifying clients.
