About Family Resource Center: Kenton Campus
Teens and adults in Hardin County can receive personalized mental health and addiction treatment at the Family Resource Center in Kenton, Ohio. In addition to treatment they offer education, prevention and advocacy services to people at all stages of recovery. Levels of care include outpatient treatment programs and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
Something I find appealing about this clinic is its use of home and school based care, including home coaching. Besides eliminating some barriers to treatment, this can feel more private than going to a clinic.
Family Resource Center accepts many insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. They've also implemented a sliding fee scale to help everyone regardless of income.
A Place Where You Can Focus
This clinic offers a special peer group called FOCUS. The goals of FOCUS are multifaceted, but ultimately it's a place where you and others in recovery can come together. The group hosts special events too, such as skill development classes.
But FOCUS is about more than socialization (though that's an important part of recovery). The group also serves as a bridge between you and other community support and services. I like how this one group can greatly expand your support network during recovery, all without cost.
Extra Help Transitioning into Adulthood
The uneasy process of becoming an adult is further complicated when you're living with mental illness or substance use disorder. The Youth Transitional Service (for ages 14 through 25) can prepare and assist in several ways by becoming a part of your treatment team.
Based on your progress concerns and treatment, they offer customized support. This can be as simple as helping manage everyday stress or coaching as you develop new skills. There's even a career shadowing option. Whatever your next phase of life looks like, these transitional services can act as a guide.
Building Meaningful Links with Your Care Team
This location utilizes assertive community treatment (ACT), a long recognized practice that emphasizes the importance of building relationships with the members of your care team. ACT is incorporated into your treatment services to strengthen the bonds between you and your caregivers so that you'll feel more comfortable sharing and calling on them in times of need. It can be an effective way to reduce and even prevent crises and prevent hospital intakes.
