About Elm City Center
Elm City Center is a nonprofit social services agency in Jacksonville, Illinois. It’s been around since 1959. The team at the center don’t provide direct alcohol, drug, or mental health treatment services, but they connect their clients to treatment, while providing other services that may help individuals with issues who are in recovery.
It doesn’t appear the Elm facility accepts insurance, since many of the programs are government funded. I think it’s great that they’ll provide services regardless of clients’ ability to pay. The main campus is on almost 15 acres and offers 100,000 square feet of multiple services under one roof. It’s conveniently located fewer than two miles from downtown Jacksonville.
Multiple Living Arrangements
I observed that the center primarily serves individuals with disabilities to ensure they’re living in the least restrictive environment available, while receiving the support they need. They offer residential programs and community integrated living arrangements (CILA). The CILA program comprises multiple styles of supported living, including apartments, group homes, and assistance for those living in their own homes.
Helping With Transitions and Life Issues
Case managers coordinate services and provide support to assist clients in living as independently as possible. I believe many clients value Elm’s assistance with issues such as divorce, grief, substance misuse and relationships.
