About Gateway Foundation
The Gateway Foundation is in a quiet corner of Jacksonville, Florida. They offer a full continuum of care to people dealing with substance use disorder from residential treatment through several levels of outpatient care and aftercare programs. The good news is that the Gateway Foundation accepts most major insurance plans and they will check your coverage for you.
The Jacksonville residential facility is exclusively for male clients and provides ongoing support, structure and routine that helps clients engage in treatment and prevent relapses. Each client receives a tailored care plan based on their specific needs and goals and addresses the mind, body and spirit.
Treatment services include addiction education, individual and group counseling, family therapy, and medication assisted treatment (MAT). They also address co-occurring disorders treatment for clients with an additional mental health disorder, like depression or anxiety.
Upon graduation from the residential program, clients can transition into one of the Gateway Foundation’s sober living facilities or one of the outpatient programs depending on their continuing needs. Outpatient services are much the same as those offered in the residential program but clients can return to their homes after treatment and maintain work and family commitments.
I like that the Gateway Foundation employs several proven therapeutic approaches so each client can receive the right approaches that work best for them. They include cognitive (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help clients identify and change their faulty thinking and behaviors surrounding substance use.
Following treatment, it can be very difficult for clients to maintain their recovery out in the world, so I was pleased to notice that Gateway at Jacksonville has a robust recovery community. The recovery community consists of peers undergoing the same challenges, alleviating feelings of isolation. I think it’s great that Gateway offers online recovery groups several times a week, so former clients can get support from anywhere when they need it.
