About Edwin Shaw Hospital
The Edwin Shaw Hospital, once part of the Summit Health network, closed its doors in 2016. While open, it operated as a treatment center for those living with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Its connection to the greater Summit Health network allowed clients to take advantage of health care services to further support their well being.
Addressing You, Not Just Symptoms
Something I always keep an eye out for in addiction treatment programs is a holistic approach. This means that they seek to heal and promote all areas of your well being, typically defined as physical, mental, and spiritual.
In short, these programs consider all of your needs, not just those related to your diagnosis, and work to improve all of them as part of your treatment plan. Edwin Shaw Hospital integrated holistic care with traditional therapy to provide clients with broader recovery support.
Healing in A Team
Something I appreciate about hospital affiliated programs like these is how they naturally lend themselves to team based treatment. Many SUD programs already combine the efforts of nurses, counselors, therapists, psychiatrists, and other mental health experts.
When part of a greater network, however, they can easily coordinate with and collaborate with specialists from other fields to promote your overall health.
