About Edgewater Recovery

Edgewater Recovery is a residential addiction treatment center in Morehead, Kentucky. Offering separate programs for men and women, they provide intensive therapy, case management and unique life skills programs. Treatment is based on Edgewater’s values including accountability, integrity and self-discipline. Following residential treatment, they offer an outpatient aftercare program.

During your stay at Edgewater Recovery, you’ll participate in individual and group counseling, 12-step meetings, and skill-building sessions. Through the 12 steps, you’ll engage in sponsorship and fellowship.

While you’re in treatment sessions, you’ll focus on gender-specific issues, relapse prevention and spirituality. You may also speak about family dynamics and addiction triggers. A unique life skills program is provided on-site by an organization called Young People in Recovery.

Some of the skills you’ll be learning during this program include education, leadership and recovery messaging. Sessions may also cover finances and housing assistance. While living on site, you’ll live together, learn how to communicate with others and create lasting friendships within the community. Everyone will be responsible for keeping the community space tidy.

The aftercare program includes outpatient therapy with a plan that will include ongoing recovery needs. Therapy during this program shifts toward external change. You’ll identify new goals and break through barriers to achieving these milestones in recovery.

A former resident of the men’s program says Edgewater was a continuous, life-changing entity for him. He also said this program helped him become a productive member of society. A woman who attended treatment in the women’s program said it saved her life.
