Dunklin Memorial Church is a faith based drug and alcohol rehab for men in Okeechobee, Florida. They run the program from an open campus in a peaceful neighborhood. You’ll join a live-in program for ten months with other men working towards freedom from addiction.

The first stage of your recovery is called induction and lasts about 21 days. You’ll be welcomed and settled into the place that will be your home as you adjust to a new lifestyle. They’ll assign you to a ‘big brother’, a client who’s further along in their recovery. He’ll show you the ropes and help you adjust to a new way of living.

During the months that follow, you’ll progress through stages that have been designed to lead you to a place of wholeness and happy sobriety. Over this time you’ll face the areas that have been affected through addiction such as legal trouble, broken relationships or financial issues. You’ll recognize the cause of your addiction and work through any trauma and pain in your past.

As this is a faith based program, there’s ample opportunity given for you to grow spiritually. You’ll receive a scriptural foundation to build your life on. The friendships and bonds formed during the year often continue long after graduation.

People who’ve been treated there say that it is life-changing. They talk about finding freedom from their addictions. Others say they’ve had their family relationships restored. Some have expressed their reservations about the spiritual side of recovery here, though they openly state they are a Christian counseling center and that fact is never hidden.
