About District 19 Community Service Board
District 19 Community Service Board has provided behavioral health services for over 50 years to the four counties around Petersburg, Virginia. You'll find 'em located out in a commercial center in town that's not too far from the Appomattox River and the Reverend William H "Buster" Mattox Park.
Various services are available for adults, adolescents, and children who experience mental illness, intellectual or developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. The Adult Services Program provides a single point of entry where you can receive crisis response, assessment, therapeutic services, and case management.
Comprehensive services and assessments are available if you have a mental health disorder or a substance abuse condition. Services like their intensive outpatient program, Faces of Change, are designed to help you achieve the highest possible level of functioning. Your services can include crisis intervention, targeted case management, outpatient psychiatric services, and telemedicine. Intensive community-based treatment, like the Gorski Relapse Prevention Program, helps you to avoid hospitalization and effectively address complex behavioral issues.
All programs are committed to providing you with a safe and secure environment where you can achieve your goals. The Prevention and Recovery Services include substance abuse evaluations, intake assessments, and individual counseling. Services are also provided to those in jail that include peer specialist services, relapse prevention treatment, and co-occurring disorder treatment.
The co-occurring disorder treatment is a minimum of 12 weeks and additional time is given to those who need it. The jail services include group counseling, drug education classes, and drug court services. You may also take advantage of Project LINK that offers services to women and children whose lives were affected by substance abuse.
They accept most insurance providers from the area, including Medicaid and Medicare. If you're uninsured and can provide proof of income, you may qualify for financial assistance.
