About Denver CARES
Serving the city of Denver, Colorado, Denver CARES offers withdrawal management and residential transitional treatment for people with substance use disorders. They specialize in providing short term residential treatment and medication assisted treatment.
This facility is open 24 hours a day seven days a week and works closely with the Denver Health Paramedic Division. The Denver Health Paramedic Division operates an Emergency Service Patrol, which transports people with substance intoxication to Denver CARES.
This facility is a 100 bed, non medical and clinically managed treatment center. This is a safe and human environment for people to detox from drugs. The first step is being triaged by a registered nurse and receiving vital checks. You’ll receive sleeping accommodations, meals, and medication assisted therapy. While in detox, you’ll participate in group counseling and harm reduction education.
For the short term residential program, men and women live separately in shared spaces. You’ll stay between 45 and 90 days. Up to 28 men can stay at a time and 14 women. Group counseling will focus on topics like coping skills, relapse prevention, and mindfulness. While onsite, you’ll meet individually with a counselor once a week. Yoga, art therapy, and meditation will give you a holistic approach to recovery. One thing I like about this program is that they also offer smoking cessation support.
A case coordinator will connect you to employment assistance and sustainable housing. That way, your basic needs will be met, and you’ll have less stress that can contribute to a relapse.
People who’ve received services at Denver CARES said the staff is patient and hardworking. Other people say they felt like being in the facility is isolating.
