The Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch (DBGR) is a Christian social services agency that has been helping at risk children and their families find success for over 70 years. Their Western Plains Residential Treatment Center can be found near Duemland Park in Bismarck, North Dakota.
At this residential treatment center, they serve children and teens between the ages of 10 and 17 with the most complex and difficult needs, giving them all the support needed to become their best selves.
Thorough Treatment in a Rural Atmosphere
I think it’s unique that the ranch is part school, part residence, and gives all the children under its roof a place of refuge and growth. While in residential treatment, each child is given support, understanding, and 24 hour access to the services and resources needed to help them achieve mental health and developmental goals.
Their clinical staff includes nurses, psychologists, therapists and addiction counselors, ensuring that the team is always equipped to provide treatment and care that’s personalized to each child. The facility also has a school that provides accredited education, including special education for those who need it, and they help facilitate a smooth credit transfer when children graduate from the program.
Help After Graduation
What I like about this program is that they prepare each resident for the transition back to life at home. They facilitate family involvement throughout the treatment process and provide outpatient and follow up support.
