About Cristo Rey Community Center

Located in Lansing, Michigan, Cristo Rey Community Center is a nonprofit basic needs service center. Here you’ll gain access to health services, counseling, a community clothing closet and housing assistance. They also work with a local movement called Project Green to expand access to financial literacy workshops. Cristo Rey is a division of the Catholic Church and strives to care for the spiritual and health needs of the local community.

The counseling programs at Cristo Rey aim to break the cycle of addiction and strengthen local families. For substance abuse, you can access a comprehensive assessment and enroll in treatment. They offer group, individual and family counseling. Case management and referrals for more intensive treatment make this a holistic program. Sessions are offered Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm with some evening sessions available.

An anger management program is available for people who struggle with emotional regulation and want to develop healthy coping mechanisms. The parenting program teaches essential skills for parents with children aged zero through six. Sessions may focus on topics like healthy communication and how to discipline children without the use of physical punishment.

Roots and Wings is a free parents and teens program that helps families define clear boundaries and develop healthy communication skills. This is aimed at children aged seven through 17.

People who’ve used the services at Cristo Rey Community Center say they have a great staff that really helps you when you need it. Other people say this facility provides warm meals, AA meetings, crafts and a food pantry.
