About Crisis and Counseling Centers
Crisis and Counseling Centers is a behavioral healthcare agency in Augusta, Maine. They were founded more than 50 years ago and have been serving the Pine Tree State ever since. They have five facilities in all, with an outpatient office on Caldwell Road. They accept credit or card payments and offer sliding scale fees.
At this outpatient location, they specialize in treating adults who are struggling with behavioral health conditions and substance abuse disorders. They offer a variety of services which include case management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), individual counseling and group therapy. They also have a Driver Education and Evaluation Program (DEEP) for anyone who wants to learn more about how to avoid substance-related dangers on the road.
While these are their formal treatment programs, the facility’s central location means you’re also close to some great options for nature therapy. Augusta is home to a slew of outdoor activities like the Kennebec River Rail, Viles Arboretum and Vaughn Woods. When it’s time to go back to the office, you’ll feel refreshed and ready to continue.
One unique thing about this office is that they don’t just provide one form of group therapy. Instead, they give you lots of different options so you can choose the groups that would work best for you. Some of the examples include the Affected Others Group, which supports relatives who want to learn more about how to help their loved one through recovery, as well as the men’s and women’s Seeking Safety Group.
If you need more support as you go through the recovery process, their MAT program can be a great service. Here, they use buprenorphine, methadone and extended-release naltrexone and naloxone (Narcan) to help reduce your cravings, minimize your physical symptoms and lower your risk of relapse. All MAT services are provided in conjunction with individual and group counseling. Mental health treatment is also available for anyone with a co-occurring disorder.
Outpatient care is convenient because it allows you to seek treatment while still living at home. When you’re not in counseling sessions, you’ll have the time and freedom to dive into Augusta’s rich cultural and historical scene. From Old Fort Western to the Maine State Capitol, there’s much to see and do.
