About Community Healthcare Network Williamsburg

The Community Healthcare Network is located in Brooklyn, New York. They offer services to adults and veterans of all genders who are struggling with substance abuse and behavioral health. The services they provide include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), overdose prevention, individual counseling, an LGBTQ+ support program, family therapy, medication management and psychiatric evaluations. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, and TRICARE insurance.

A psychiatric evaluation will be completed with you and a therapist to determine what form of care you need. They will ask questions regarding chemical dependency, physical health, and medical history. Once completed, they’ll present you with recommendations on the appropriate steps for you to receive treatment, they’ll also provide local and community resources for you to utilize in regards to recovery, employment, housing, and emergency information.

Opioid overdose prevention training with Narcan is available here as well. This is to gain a better understanding during the likelihood of an overdose and how to administer Narcan until paramedics arrive.

Their LGBTQ+ support program provides primary health, PrEP, hormone therapy, gender-affirming surgery referrals, and family-building health education. It can be challenging to want to seek support or immediate care and have concerns about feeling uncomfortable or misunderstood. This facility has a team of licensed experts who’ll provide you with the treatment, support, and care you need.

What sticks out to me the most is where this treatment facility is located. Brooklyn is a very diverse and cultural city offering a variety of things to do. They have a botanic garden, bike tours, flea markets, the Brooklyn Museum, Barclays Center, The Brooklyn Art Library, Coney Island and a variety of tasty restaurants. This gives you lots to explore when you’re not in treatment and puts you near other local resources that can support your recovery.

The MAT program is designed to help individuals who are struggling with withdrawals and cravings from chemical dependency. They traditionally use buprenorphine, Suboxone, and Vivitrol. These medications will alleviate the impacts from chemical dependency and can also reduce the risk of relapse.

In regards to behavioral health services, they offer post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) therapy, stress reduction, family therapy, medication management, and individual therapy. They have a team of social workers who can assist in crisis intervention, housing assistance, and referrals for public benefits as well as job training.
