About Common Ground
Common Ground in Pontiac, Michigan, provides a variety of support for people in Oakland County. It’s located in the civic center. They offer a 24-hour crisis helpline, urgent assessment and stabilization services, virtual urgent care and more. Many services are free of charge.
They run a sober support unit that is staffed by paramedics and peer support specialists. If you’re struggling with alcohol or drug use, this is a safe space for you. It’s available 24 hours a day. You can come for detox and stabilization.
This program means that you don’t have to go through withdrawal on your own. Compassionate and trained staff will monitor you and keep you safe as your body purges itself of drugs and alcohol. Once you’ve reached stability and your system no longer has drugs in it, staff members will connect you to residential substance use programs for ongoing care and support. Medical insurance is not required.
Their intervention services are available 24/7. Their crisis assessment team is staffed by master-level clinicians. They will assess each person that comes in and recommend a treatment path. This might be an inpatient program, a Common Ground crisis residential care or something else. You don’t need an appointment.
Their crisis residential care is a short term voluntary stay that focuses on recovery. It will include medication management, nursing, group and art therapy, monitoring and discharge planning. This unit is an alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
Common Ground also offers a virtual behavioral health urgent care program. You can schedule a virtual visit from home if you need urgent emotional care. You’ll be seen by a licensed healthcare provider.
The center is located in a government center, and there aren’t many amenities nearby. But if you’re the outdoors type, Pontiac offers a few park and recreation sites, like Kiwanis Park and the Elite Sportsplex, where you can exercise and unwind.
