About Common Ground Resource & Crisis Center
Common Ground Resource and Crisis Center is a Pontiac, Michiganbased crisis service agency offering free, confidential mental health and behavioral health interventions around the clock.
They provide crisis assessment, intervention, victim support (including domestic violence and sexual assault), and virtual urgent care for ages 12 and up. Their mission is to offer compassionate, trauma informed care that meets individuals in moments of crisis and connects them to healing and resources in their community.
24/7 Crisis Intervention Services That Save Lives
At the heart of Common Ground’s work is crisis intervention. I found that this is a core specialty where master‐level clinicians assess individuals in urgent emotional or psychiatric distress.
The center operates 24 hours a day for walk‐ins and emergency face‐to‐face assessments to quickly establish safety and care plans. Their Virtual Behavioral Health Urgent Care is also available same‐day for clients aged 12 and over to bridge gaps when in-person help is harder to reach.
Sessions begin with an in-depth evaluation by a master‐level clinician who identifies immediate risks and determines if hospitalization, community referral, or onsite support is needed. Positive feedback often highlights their responsiveness and the calming presence of their staff.
Specialized Support for Victims of Crime and Trauma
Common Ground also places strong emphasis on supporting survivors of crime especially those who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. Their Victim Assistance Program aims to provide targeted emotional support, resources, and advocacy services for those who have endured traumatic events.
Clinicians with specialized training in victim support guide clients through healing to restore safety, dignity, and resilience.
Serving the Community With Accessibility
Common Ground serves southeastern Michigan especially Oakland and Genesee Counties. They offer in-person services at their Pontiac facility and telehealth options like virtual urgent care for clients aged 12 and up.
The center is backed by accreditations from the American Association of Suicidology and CARF and carries more than five decades of experience in crisis support. Most crisis services are provided free of charge. Virtual behavioral health sessions accept most insurance plans. There is a modest cash rate for those without coverage.
