About COMCARE – Outpatient Services

Known as the Air Capital of the World, Wichita, Kansas features COMCARE Outpatient Services. Established in 1961, they are Kansas’s largest community mental health center, serving over 19,000 people. You can access intensive and standard outpatient addiction and mental health care to reach your recovery goals.

Affordable Housing Assistance

What stands out most to me is their Housing First Program. This track provides stable living environments for adults who’ve experienced long term or multiple episodes of homelessness. You can also access substance abuse and mental health services within this program. Your cost will depend on what you can afford.

Criminal Justice Services

Another great thing I noticed about them was their Sedgwick County Offender Assessment Program. If you’re battling a mental health illness or addiction and have come in contact with the criminal justice system, this program can serve as an alternative to incarceration. You can access medication and services to start recovery.

Addressing Problem Gambling

I also think it’s nice that they have a gambling addiction program. While often overlooked, gambling can be just as detrimental as drugs or alcohol. You’ll benefit from therapeutic interventions to improve your quality of life and functioning as well as gain essential coping skills.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Teen & Adolescent Program

Treatment plans at a young adult program in Kansas typically encompass counseling for addiction as well as co-occurring mental health disorders. Young adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or ADHD can get help for these disorders as well as substance use disorders.

Adult Program

When an individual needs help with an addiction, they can find support at an adult program in Kansas. These treatment programs offer recovery services for men and women ages 18 and older.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

People often benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy in Kansas, as it teaches techniques for coping with negative thoughts, challenging emotions, and triggers. These exercises can be practiced on their own, so people in recovery have effective tools to maintain their sobriety.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT)

Rational emotive behavioral therapy in Kansas focuses on the present moment rather than the past. It is action-oriented, helping the individual identify and replace maladaptive beliefs that are contributing to substance use and addiction.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an integrative, community-based care strategy designed to address the needs of persons with severe and/or complex mental illness or behavioral disorders. ACT is typically provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health care providers, social workers, therapists, and other specialists, including addiction recovery professionals. These services are frequently provided in the home and community to clients in crisis, those who are clinically unstable, and those who are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital or clinic for in-person treatment.
