About Columbus Rescue Mission
Columbus Rescue Mission is in Columbus, Nebraska, and is a faith based nonprofit that offers supportive services to homeless individuals in need, including those with addictions and mental health issues. The goal is to get people back to work by reconnecting with their spiritual faiths.
The New Life Program is an intensive, one year, residential men’s program. The overnight program houses clients and provides clothing, food, showers, and laundry services on a temporary basis for up to three weeks. Women can attend the Healing Heart discipleship program. All these services are gladly available for no charge.
Free Programs for Those with Addictive Lifestyles
The mission is only one mile from the walkable downtown Columbus area, known as the Trackside District. The New Life Program for men offers clients an opportunity to reside on campus while completing a three phase, faith based, structured program of recovery. I noticed that at the end of the program, men find full time employment and have help transitioning back to the community.
Clean & Safe
The mission provides individuals with a safe and clean environment. One client said the program is “helping folks get back on their feet,” through stable routines and church support. Many clients have mentioned the life change and safe shelter, which I think many people greatly appreciate.
