About Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Fort Lyon Supportive Residential Community
Colorado Coalition for the Homeless Fort Lyon Supportive Residential Community is located on 552 acres of open land in Las Animas, Colorado. This transitional housing program offers a quiet space for adults battling homelessness and addiction to step away from distractions and hone in on recovery. You can access proven therapeutic interventions, social services and specialized programs for up to two years to aid in your journey.
With transitional housing, you live on campus and receive ongoing treatment and support. Their program uses a peer support approach that highlighs 12-Step philosophy, addiction education, case management and supportive clinical services. During your first 30 days, you’ll work with a case worker to design a customized approach that accounts for your unique situation. You can access therapy, recovery meetings, specialized Veterans services and more.
What stands out most to me is their impressive campus. With over 550 acres, you’ll have plenty of space for walking, exercising, biking and reflecting on your journey. You can access gender separate living spaces with quiet rooms, a gym, common areas, laundry, a library, and case management offices. You’ll also have access to three meals a day, bedding, clothing and toiletries. They provide a serene environment to focus solely on recovery with all your basic needs.
Another incredible feature that caught my eye was their educational and employment services. They provide junior college educational programs including GED classes. You can also participate in pre-employment modules to recognize your strengths, skills and knowledge for career opportunities. Once you complete their program you can access housing and employment assistance.
I also think it’s great that their approaches are trauma-informed. Past traumatic influences can often play a significant role in addiction and how you respond to treatment. They ensure you receive care that recognizes trauma and helps you address these challenges to achieve sustained recovery.
