About Clifford Beers Community Care Center

Clifford Beers Community Care Center has been a part of New Haven, Connecticut for more than a century. They’re one of the largest providers of mental and behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents and young adults in New Haven County.

Where Substance Use Support Fits In

Cliford Beers isn’t an addiction rehab and it doesn’t offer detox or residential substance use treatment. But what it does offer is early and family-centered intervention that really makes a big difference before substance use escalates. The SAFE-Family Recovery program is a DCF-funded program that combines substance use screening with family recovery support, recovery check-ins and care coordination.

A Full Spectrum of Services

I appreciate that Clifford Beers provides outpatient mental health services that allow children and families to work one-on-one with a therapist. These services also allow youth to participate in groups and engage in family therapy in a safe and supportive environment. In-home services meet families exactly where they are, offering strengths-based and individualized care that focuses on the entire household.

I appreciate that autism and ID/DD services are also offered here, providing tailored care and enrichment for kids with developmental needs. They offer school-based programs embedded in care coordination services directly with Hamden and New Haven public schools.
