About Citizen Advocates Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center

Citizen Advocates Crisis and Recovery Center is a 24/7 addiction and mental health crisis treatment center. It’s also a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). The crisis and recovery center is an alternative to a regular emergency room for those in crisis due to a mental health or substance use disorder. This includes youth, teens, and adults. The facility is located on Finney Boulevard in a semi-secluded corner of Malone, New York.

CCBHC funding comes through enhanced Medicaid reimbursement so no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay for treatment.

Clients receive immediate access to substance use and mental health disorder treatment. This includes addiction counseling, outpatient detox with medication assisted treatment (MAT), and therapy for co-occurring mental health disorders. The medications they use are buprenorphine and naltrexone to help with detox from opioids or alcohol. You’ll also receive individualized plans for treatment and recovery with access to a team of behavioral health professionals.

The facility also offers a 24/7 crisis hotline with a mobile response unit for suicide prevention, parenting strategies, and relaxation techniques. If appropriate, the caregivers answering the crisis hotline will send someone to visit you to help ensure your safety.

If an addiction or mental health disorder is making your living situation precarious, you can get help securing housing. The community housing team works with the clinical services team to ensure you get the support you need to live in a stable, secure environment.

Some of the other support includes transportation to and from your job. They offer assistance with medical appointments and can do weekly check ins or sometimes around the clock care. They’ll help you build social skills and include you in community outings.

If you’re unemployed and have a developmental disability, a mental illness, or are in recovery from an addiction, they may be able to employ you through the affirmative business program. Businesses aligned with the CCBHC’s mission employ disabled individuals and those in recovery. The CCBHC offers integrated comprehensive services for those with mental health and substance use disorders.
