About Chrysalis House
Chrysalis House is a CARF-accredited substance abuse center for women and their families. They are located in Lexington, Kentucky where they run both residential and outpatient programs. This center is the oldest and largest in the state and allows women to bring their young children with them during treatment. Older children are able to come for overnight visits.
Their campus has 3 residential facilities, a 40-unit recovery housing apartment complex, an outpatient center and a community center. On top of substance abuse programs, clients can get domestic violence counseling, high school equivalency and job placement help, medical care, housing assistance and services for children. They accept Medicaid and have a sliding scale fee.
Chrysalis House prioritizes care for pregnant and parenting women. During your stay, you’ll learn how to function as an adult and parent in daily life, you’ll build a sober support community and learn strategies to cope and stay sober.
I like that their residential program has multiple phases. The first phase is orientation and getting used to being in recovery. You will progress to skill development then aftercare planning and finally transitioning. You may choose to move to recovery housing to continue to practice your new skills with more freedom.
Their outpatient program gives clients access to group and individual counseling sessions.
Chrysalis House offers excellent children’s services including mother/child therapy, educational activities on the weekends for the whole family, and prevention services for older kids. Best of all, kids get access to their Head Start Prep Academy program which gives them high-quality, early childhood education.
