About Choices for Life of Georgia

Choices for Life of Georgia is an outpatient behavioral health center providing comprehensive, culturally competent services in Valdosta, Georgia. The organization is nationally accredited and is licensed by the state of Georgia as a child placing agency. Children, adolescents and their families struggling with a mental health or substance use issue are able to receive services. Admissions will be in accordance with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. Medicaid is accepted. If you don’t have insurance, they have a sliding fee discount program.

Their outpatient program, The Seven Challenges Program, is specifically designed for adolescents. It’s for adolescents who are abusing or are substance dependent and are in need of motivation to commit to change.

Your teen will undergo a comprehensive evaluation. The evaluation is designed to help identify concerns and issues for your teen and the family. Once these issues have been identified, the therapist will determine the treatment goals, along with your teen and the family.

You may see a mix of either individual, group and/or family counseling on the treatment plan. There may be substance abuse education, relapse prevention and journaling on the treatment plan as well. Their goal is to help your teen master developmental tasks.

I like that they will be able to help manage any co-occurring mental health disorders and substance use disorders. With counseling, your teen will work toward resolving issues that have resulted from using drugs, alcohol and other substances.
