About Chicago Center for Recovery – Closed

Established in 2003, Chicago Center for Recovery provided recovery services in an outpatient setting for adults and families. In addition to treating substance abuse, this facility had DUI classes and counseling, court-mandated evaluations and financial literacy classes.

I like that they provided the community with free ongoing workshops with topics like career development, healing and art, and men advocating to stop violence against women. This facility is now reported to be permanently closed.

Focused On Wellness and Empowerment Activities

The levels of treatment available included group, individual and family therapy sessions. The belief of empowerment through holistic activities was at the heart of all behavioral health services at Chicago Center for Recovery. Services treated adults, adolescents, and young children.

For outpatient addiction treatment, there were standard and intensive levels of care. DUI classes had levels one, two, and three. One thing that set Chicago Center for Recovery apart to me was its use of non-blaming and non-judgmental language. Individualized recovery plans were created for everyone to ensure personalized care.

DUI Services and Evaluations

The DUI evaluations and classes were designed for people who have been convicted of a DUI offense. The goal of this class was to lower the risk of a repeat offense and educate the person who has received a DUI.

The curriculum of the court-mandated classes included alcohol education, the personal impact of DUI convictions and prevention strategies for the future. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on their substance use and its impact on driving. Risk education courses were typically ten hours.
