About Charleston Center

Charleston Center (CC) is the primary prevention and treatment center for Charleston County’s Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS). Their campus is situated around one and a half miles south of Park Circle in North Charleston, South Carolina.

If you’re in the community and are struggling with a drug or alcohol addiction, this campus can be the place for you to receive a comprehensive addiction assessment. They can also provide outpatient counseling on campus, as well as a connection to all the other addiction treatment services the DAODAS offers.

Outpatient Services on the Charleston Center Campus

The first thing they offer is a clinical assessment, which is an interview between yourself and a professional counselor in which they gauge the severity of your addiction and circumstances before matching you with the right level of care and treatment center. At the campus itself, they offer addiction counseling using cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and the seeking safety approach. For those who need it, medication assisted treatment can also be offered.

Addiction Treatment in Charleston County

From the CC campus, they also coordinate some of the other county operated addiction treatment services like their residential treatment program and their aftercare support. What I like about Charleston County’s approach is that they don’t forget inmates, and have a special program for incarcerated persons.
