About Reverend Edward M. Dempsey Drug Services

The Dempsey Center in Waterbury, Connecticut, is one of three intermediate residential substance use facilities operated by the McCall Behavioral Health Network, a trusted provider that has served Western Connecticut for 50+ years. The facility provides trauma-informed residential care for adult men with primary substance use issues and co-occurring mental health conditions.

They’re located northwest of the beautiful Waterbury Green and the historic Mattatuck Museum, and southwest of Hamilton Park. This mix of scenic natural spots and cultural landmarks creates an enriching recovery environment with plenty to explore.

I like that they accept Medicaid, Medicare and several commercial health insurances.
They offer discounted rates for eligible uninsured clients.

The facility can accommodate 34 men at a time for at least four months. Another thing I consider quite commendable is they accept individuals involved in the criminal justice system such as those on diversion and probation. Those on methadone maintenance treatment are accepted as well.

Integrated Support For Long-Term Success

At Dempsey Center, residents are guided toward long-term recovery through an integrated model that includes structured therapy and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). You’ll participate in daily therapy to develop practical tools for maintaining a sober lifestyle. Groups address anger, relapse prevention and sober living alongside employment education that prepares residents for success in the real world.

They even offer a 12-step group that supports ongoing recovery efforts as well as a men’s trauma-focused group that addresses past wounds. Family involvement is encouraged to promote healing together. MAT is integrated for residents with primary opioid use issues. This involves naltrexone, buprenorphine or Vivitrol to ease painful withdrawal symptoms and reduce relapse risk.

Your care team connects you to community services to housing, employment and medical care as you transition to independent living in the real world.
