Northwestern Medicine’s Woodstock Hospital is a large and multi-departmental hospital in Woodstock, Illinois. One of their departments is their outpatient behavioral health service where they can treat drug and alcohol addiction along with other behavioral health issues and mental health conditions. They treat adults and adolescents here.

This behavioral health department mostly focuses on outpatient treatment for addiction but at multiple levels of programs. For example, their partial hospitalization program (PHP) will provide treatment throughout most of the day on weekdays.

Their intensive outpatient program or IOP is one step down. In this program, you’ll have around three hours of treatment three times a week. A lot of clients start in the PHP and then step down to the IOP and finally to less frequent outpatient therapy as they become more stable in their sobriety.

Your program will ultimately be based on you and what you need for recovery. You’ll have a primary therapist who guides your program and your progress. Most of your program will be group therapy along with individual therapy. Because this is a mental health and psychiatric department too they’re especially helpful if you have co-occurring mental health disorders.

One thing that really caught my eye about this facility is that they have a specialized emergency mental health service. They’re available 24 hours a day every day for you to call any time you’re having a behavioral health crisis. Not only will they help you through the crisis but they’ll also connect you with the resources you need for ongoing treatment whether it’s the outpatient programs here or a residential rehab.

Clients have great things to say about this behavioral health department. They say that the staff here are outstandingly compassionate and kind and that the staff seem to love what they do. Some have also had experiences at other mental health facilities in the area and say that this facility is far above the others.
