About Carbon Monroe Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission
The Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission is headquartered in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. They focus on providing substance abuse treatment to all who need it and work to prevent overdose. They also offer prevention and DUI services. It's next door to the Monroe County Children & Youth social services building.
The Commission accepts most major healthcare plans and PA Medical Assistance. I like that they have funding available for uninsured or underinsured folks and a sliding scale.
Outpatient Substance Use Treatment in Stroudsburg
Residents wishing to access drug & alcohol services will contact the referral center. Staff will conduct a telephone screening interview. I like that they’ll refer you to an in-person level of care assessment within 24 hours of your call for urgent needs. The face-to-face interview uses Pennsylvania Client Placement Criteria to figure out the right level of care.
People needing outpatient treatment can purchase fee-for-service treatments that are subtracted out with one of Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission’s community partners. You can get individual and group counseling from clinical staff that offer a variety of methods to support recovery.
There are three levels of outpatient care and clients are assigned to one based on their needs and assessment results. As part of each of these, clients get individual and group counseling. I appreciate that they also offer individual counseling to the family members of substance abusers. In these, family members will address enabling behavior and codependency.
MAT in Monroe County
The Commission offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) using Suboxone, Vivitrol or methadone. Just like the other outpatient programs, you’ll first have a level of care assessment and get a referral to the case manager supervision.
They actually don’t offer MAT at their headquarters. Instead, Monroe County residents will get MAT through Pyramid Healthcare in Bartonsville. I like that they offer cost sharing for doctor visits, counseling and pharmacy fees for people who are uninsured.
