Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties is part of the League of Catholic Women serving the communities of Flint, Michigan. They offer a range of programs that include adoption and foster care, meal programs, and counseling. The counseling programs treat adults, children, and families for mental health issues including addiction, depression, anger management, or family crisis. Substance abuse assessments and driver’s license assessments are also offered at this location.
An aggression intervention program called Alternatives to Violence can help you recognize unhealthy behavioral patterns with a goal of becoming non-abusive. Groups are available for men and women. Individual and group counseling is available for people who have co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues. The M.I.N.D.S. group focuses on cognitive restructuring and substance abuse. This program lasts for 12 weeks and is designed to identify cognitive distortions and reframe thinking patterns. Sessions may also focus on relapse prevention and making better decisions.
The driver’s license assessments are for people who need to have their licenses reinstated following a suspension. You’ll be able to use this assessment and subsequent recommendations as part of the reinstatement process.
