About Institute For Hispanic Family
The Catholic Charities Institute for the Hispanic Family provides resources to Spanish speakers in the Greater Hartford area. The facility is on Wadsworth Street in Hartford, Connecticut. The institute provides multiple services, including therapy for substance use and co occurring mental health disorders. They work to make treatment affordable by accepting private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE, and other government financed health insurance.
Linguistically and Culturally Competent Services in Hartford
One of the things I like about this clinic is not only the bilingual services but that the staff also understands Hispanic culture. They provide culturally competent mental health services to children, adolescents, adults and families. The counselors help clients with trauma, grief, loss, anger management, and other mental health issues.
The institute is a certified community behavioral health clinic and substance use treatment is comprehensive. You’ll have a case manager and access to peer recovery specialists as well as clinical and psychoeducational groups.
Clinical and Case Management for Victims of Crime in Connecticut
I was impressed with their clinical services and case management for victims of crime. The case managers help support victims through the healing process and assist victims with the compensation process. They connect victims to resources such as child care, housing, counseling, transportation and crisis intervention.
Case management services are free to eligible individuals through the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA). To be eligible for the free program, the victim must be seeking treatment in Connecticut, victimization must have occurred in Connecticut, or the victim was living in Connecticut when the crime happened. Some of the crimes include sexual assault or abuse, bullying (including physical, verbal, or cyber), physical abuse, teen dating victimization, and more.
